Watershed Concerto for vibraphone and orchestra by Judd Greenstein

I am very happy to share a behind the scenes video around the world premiere of Watershed, Judd Greenstein’s concerto for vibraphone and orchestra, written for me and premiered on 13 June 2025 at the Philharmonie Luxembourg with the Luxembourg Philharmonic, conducted by Teddy Abrams.
The work was co-commissioned by the Luxembourg Philharmonic & Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn.
Judd Greenstein is an American composer whose music often moves between contemporary classical writing, rhythmic energy, and a very personal sense of narrative. In Watershed, he takes the image of rivers and watersheds as a starting point: systems that appear stable, but are constantly moving, changing and reshaping everything around them.

For me, it was a great privilege to bring this new concerto to life and to place the vibraphone at the centre of such a rich orchestral sound world — sometimes transparent and shimmering, sometimes rhythmic and forceful.

I am also very happy that Watershed will be recorded with the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn and released in 2027 as part of GLASS THREE, the final chapter of my Philip Glass triptych.
